Your Life After Weight Loss
For some, it’s hard to imagine a time when you no longer have to take medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol or to use a CPAP machine. What would it be like to shop for clothes sizes found in most department stores or to ride on a roller coaster again? To be able to keep up with your children, grandchildren, or even great-grandchildren? But these are the results we strive to achieve, that can only be achieved through weight loss and weight maintenance. This is not an easy road, but one that is filled with more possibilities than the one you are on currently. Of course, many factors contribute to results after surgery, including your ability to participate in our postoperative programs and follow-up, but for most of you, life will certainly be different.
Weight regain can occur, however annual follow up, adherence to healthy habits and exercise can keep your post-bariatric surgery metabolic set point maintained.
It is important to continue taking vitamins and avoiding certain medications contraindicated after your surgery to avoid potential long term complications.
At ALSA, you are a patient for life.
